Friday BJJ Open Mat
Friday BJJ open mat sessions are listed here from each gym's weekly timetable. Across the US, 351 gyms in 255 cities list a Friday open mat a visitor can attend. Each listing shows the start time, the visitor policy, and the day-pass price when the gym publishes one.
Use a city page when you already know the town. Use the map when you have a ZIP, or when you are still choosing between neighborhoods. A city with only one or two Friday open mats does not get its own Friday page. Those gyms stay on the map and on the state page.

How to Choose a Friday Open Mat
A Friday open mat is rolling time with little or no formal instruction. OpenMapp counts a session when the gym publishes it as an open mat and the class name is not members-only or for kids. That filter is why this national count can be lower than every Friday row stored on the raw timetable.
Read three fields before you pick a gym. The start time has to fit the day you arrive or leave. The visitor note says whether that gym welcomes open-mat visitors, and it is stored separately from the class drop-in note. The price line is filled only when the gym published a visitor drop-in or day-pass rate. A blank price means the gym did not publish one, so ask them rather than guessing.
If two gyms both fit the time, prefer the one whose visitor note is filled in and whose timetable was checked more recently. The gym page shows that check date. A listed week is the gym's published schedule, not a promise the session is on this particular Friday.
What Each Listing Shows
City pages and gym cards show the same public fields. The day and start time come from the gym's own timetable. Gi, no-gi, or both is shown when the class name says so. The visitor policy and the contact-first note are shown when the gym has answered them. The drop-in price is shown when a visitor rate is listed.
- Message the gym before you visit
- Friday evening sessions can be busy, so arrive early
- Check whether the session is gi or no-gi
- Bring a clean kit that matches the class name, and a water bottle
Friday Compared with the Rest of the Week
Saturday is the busiest open-mat day in the current catalog, with 476 gyms. Friday has 351. Sunday has 295. 71 of the Friday gyms also list a free visitor open mat. Free here means the published visitor price says the open mat is free or $0. It does not mean every class at that gym is free.
A gym can welcome visitors to class and keep Friday open mat for members, or the other way around. Check the open-mat visitor note, not only the class drop-in note, before you plan the session.
